Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals with and without a calculator.
Use, identify and explain the use of standard and metric rulers and other special measuring devices.
Convert decimals to percentages and percentages to decimals.
Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
Explain what the metric system is and how it is important in the trade.
Recognize and use metric units of length, weight, volume, and temperature.
Use tables of weights and measurements.
Use formulas to solve basic problems.
Solve area, volume, and circumference problems.
Solve right triangles using the Pythagorean theorem.

In addition to basic math skills, a craftsperson needs advanced mathematical skills.
You will use these skills to determine the volume of pipes and tanks, and to determine simple and rolling offsets.
This module provides practice in some basic mathematical procedures, as well as explaining how to use an architect’s scale and an engineer’s scale; tables of weights and measurements, ratios, solve basic problems using formulas, use basic geometry to solve area, volume, perimeter, and circumference problems; and use the Pythagorean theorem. All of these skills are applied to your everyday duties as a maintenance craftperson, and the use of mathematics can become a valuable took that will make your job easier.
